Debt Collection Defense Clinic
Public Counsel holds clinics to help individuals dealing with debt collection. In-person appointments (masks may be required and provided) are available on the certain Mondays of the month at the Vermont Square Library from 1-4pm, and on certain Fridays of the month at the RL Stevenson Library from 1-4pm. Zoom appointments also are available at other times.
Our services include:
- Responding to a debt collection lawsuit
- Responding to discovery requests from a creditor
- Claims of exemption for wage garnishment and bank levy
- Counsel and advice
PLEASE NOTE: Our in-person clinics will have some availability for walk-ins, but we recommend you make an appointment.
To make an appointment, please complete the online intake form below. We currently have limited capacity and priority will be given to applicants who have a Debt Collection issue or who have been impacted by the recent wildfires.
